Google Photos doesn't run GPS in the background unless you give us permission by turning on optional features that require this. Note: Face grouping is not available in all countries.Ĭontinued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Subscriptions and auto-renewal may be managed by going to iTunes Account Settings after purchase. Storage subscriptions purchased in-app will be charged to your iTunes Account, and automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Pricing and availability can vary by region. Subscriptions start at $1.99/month for 100 GB in the US.

Maybe I was doing something wrong with Apple Photos but it just wasn’t working as I had thought it would and was too exhausting to think about adapting my workflows. I bought the extra storage space from Apple/iCloud this year (after listening to the MPU #537 episode) with the hopes of fully migrating to Apple Photos but I gave up after getting completely frustrated by iCloud double and triple syncing photos with my desktop Apple Photos app and Apple Photos not syncing with iCloud if I kept my taxonomy as is. I have been doing this dance between Google Photos and Apple Photos / iCloud for as long as Google Photos as been around and it is so frustrating.
